    Fifteen Paths tells us how discordant art can bring harmony and wisdom into our lives It s a refreshingly original book that I devoured in just two sittings One caveat though David Weitzner is a huge music nerd and many of his ideas are inspired by alternative rock artists of the 80s For me, reading this book was a blast in the past I enjoyed the interviews with artists and the references to various live shows However, if you re not familiar with Sonic Youth, Fishbone, Sisters of Mercy and Fifteen Paths tells us how discordant art can bring harmony and wisdom into our lives It s a refreshingly original book that I devoured in just two sittings One caveat though David Weitzner is a huge music nerd and many of his ideas are inspired by alternative rock artists of the 80s For me, reading this book was a blast in the past I enjoyed the interviews with artists and the references to various live shows However, if you re not familiar with Sonic Youth, Fishbone, Sisters of Mercy and other bands of that ilk and era, you may bedisoriented than enlightened Note this book was provided free by the publisher This review is strictly my own

    I read this book with increasing pleasure, at times identifying so completely with some of the thoughts expressed by the people David Weitzner interviewed that it left me wantingA real page turner this is a book written in the form of interviews The author, a huge fan of art in the form of everything that comprises art music, lyrics, poetry, writing has taken us through a circuitous route which becomes easy to navigate as we go on this journey with him In this age of uncertainty, es I read this book with increasing pleasure, at times identifying so completely with some of the thoughts expressed by the people David Weitzner interviewed that it left me wantingA real page turner this is a book written in the form of interviews The author, a huge fan of art in the form of everything that comprises art music, lyrics, poetry, writing has taken us through a circuitous route which becomes easy to navigate as we go on this journey with him In this age of uncertainty, especially during the Trump era, he demonstrates through his interviews of each personality and their personal history, how we not only can survive but grow strong and secure Technology has taken over a good portion of our lives, yet, there is hope To grow in community, seek out our elders, change the way we listen to name just a few of the list of lessons learned in this gem of a book.Thank you, ECW Press for a copy of FIFTEEN PATHS in exchange for a review I would have read it even if I had not received a free copy

    I picked up this book while looking for something to quiet the overwhelm I often feel from society The high charged emotions of the modern news and social media climate, ever polarizing, quickly losing touch with any sense of empathy I found myself nodding a lot while reading this book, as it discusses these same topics.The author tackles these with examples from musicians He interviews many music legends, discussing the meaning and intent of their sometimes experimental work, and although I I picked up this book while looking for something to quiet the overwhelm I often feel from society The high charged emotions of the modern news and social media climate, ever polarizing, quickly losing touch with any sense of empathy I found myself nodding a lot while reading this book, as it discusses these same topics.The author tackles these with examples from musicians He interviews many music legends, discussing the meaning and intent of their sometimes experimental work, and although I was not a fan going in, I learned to appreciate a new genre It s like a read along plus learning about cool old school bands
